i have a busy 2 year old and recently put together a "busy box" for him, consisting of lots of different crafty bits and pieces - scissors, glue, paper, textas, pom poms, fabric, streamers, wrapping paper, googly eyes, etc. I buy things to put in it as I see them but most of the things were from around the house. He loves playing and making random creations from it. We usually get it out when I am busy making dinner and he sits at the table next to me and is "busy" too!

I have a Xyron sticker maker thing and that's the best investment for my kid. He loves stickers (which kid doesn't) and we cut up junk mail together and put it through the sticker maker and voila stickers.
My best craft idea with kids is to buy a box of popsicle sticks (only about $4, and there are lots in there!), and glue. You can build a cowboy/indian fort, with a fence around it. Or a barn for those plastic horses your daughter loves! If you need to cut the sticks, just score them with a razor (you, not your child!), and then snap it off. My daughter loved doing this. Thanks!
I love your blog, you have given me a lot of inspiration. As for kids crafts, we are currently on vacation, away from all our supplies. So my son has been playing mail carrier with the paper, markers, and stickers we brought. Between writing the letters, "driving" a mail truck, and delivery, this is occupying lots of time!
I adore that red jumper. I love sewing w/vintage patterns. My favorite crafty thing to do w/my son is to use recycled materials. I save EVERYTHING ... from trash ties to toilet paper rolls. He gets such a kick out of making art out of garbage.
I am enjoying your blog so much! I am new to sewing, but I am getting tremendous inspiration from your posts. As far as crafting with children, we love to make our own books. I keep book making supplies (paper, brads, cardboard, posterboard, etc.) in a box, along with pens, crayons, markers fabric, glue and tons of embellishments. The children love it!
Your blog is great! I love the project bags-- I may have to try to recreate one for all of my unfinished embroidery projects.
I am the most uncrafty person out there...is there such a thing? My 6 year old loves to make things, and we usually head to the store and buy a craft kit, whether it be jewelry, beading, potholders, those simple things that you can buy with simple instructions for noncrafty people like me. We have a blast doing these though,and I have to agree her work is WAY better than mine!
Congrats on 100 posts. I love your blog, its full of wonderful ideas and inspiration. I have 4 year old twins and at the moment they have a passion for cutting and pasting. So I have been cutting up pictures from magazines and letting them go wild with the glue and blank paper. Hours of entertainment.
